Africa Mía Private Reserve opens as the first stage of Hacienda Sotela through a family effort from philanthropist Mrs. Roxie Sotela and her son Mario Sotela , who have undertaken 5 years of research to make a dream come true. The Guanacaste Plains were chosen as an ideal setting, as they resemble the African Savannah, creating the perfect habitat for exotic endangered species. Only herbivores were included in Africa Mía to create a non-stress environment allowing animal of different species to live in perfect harmony sharing a large serene territory without the fear of carnivores.
